Wright Brothers Tin Airplane by Fischer Toys, Germany

If you are a bit rusty on history we will refresh- Wilbur and Orville Wright were American inventors and pioneers of aviation. In 1903 the Wright brothers achieved the first powered, sustained and controlled airplane flight; they surpassed their own milestone two years later when they built and flew the first fully practical airplane.

Our toy find is a rare and beautiful toy made by Fischer Toys of Germany.  Our attribution is 95% certain, but there was not a catalog in our collection to finalize it.  Wright….to us if you have a catalog and please share!

The toy is hand painted in a luscious cream and has an expertly hand painted pilot and precision German engine.  Wind it up, and then it spins, buy design, on a lead weight counterbalanced stand in circles.  Later we will share it on a stand.  One can see the hook atop the aircraft.

For now, enjoy the photos of a splendid touchtone to world aviation history.
