Wamoo Yoshiya (KO) Tin Lithographed Windup “Circus Car” in Box *SOLD*
Wamoo Yoshiya (KO) Tin Lithographed Windup “Circus Car” in Box
This is a tin, lithographed, windup “Circus Car” in box that was manufactured by Yoshiya (KO) of Tokyo, Japan for Wamoo Toys of France.
When wound with its dedicated key and switched to the on position, this working example moves forward and bubbles come out of the smoke stack. We tested the windup mechanism and found it to be working as well as the air that comes from the smoke stack. There are two Styrofoam balls (not pictured) in two sizes that are included, the smoke stack blows these up a little ways above it. The box is in good condition.
This piece is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories and wear that are to be expected from age and display. This is approximately 4 ¾” L x 4 ¾” H. We encourage you to examine the photographs to further determine condition and quality.
A brief history of Wamoo Toys of France:
Wamoo was founded in 1952 in France by Jean-Marie Moheng, Pierre Moheng, and Armand Walther. Wamoo often gets confused with France Jouets (FJ, JEP) which was founded in 1899 by Jean-Marie Moheng and Henri Fauvel in Marseille, France. France Jouets (FJ) became JEP in 1929, after the merging of SIF and JdeP (Jouets de Paris). In 1957, France Jouets (FJ) bought GEM toys. In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, the company became France-Toys SA. They produced a diverse collection of toys in tin, plastic and diecast zamak/zinc. In the mid 1970’s, the company closed its doors.
