Tonka Military Jeep GR-2 2431 Vintage Pressed Steel *SOLD*
Tonka Military Jeep GR-2 2431 vintage pressed steel for sale
This military jeep by Tonka was only offered for a limited number of years around the late 60’s (post Korean war timeline).
Our very good condition original Military Jeep comes from dry Florida storage and its original owner. Â There are some dings on the front bumper, a missing steering wheel, a missing spare tire, but strong condition paint and stickers. Â The hardtop/canvas top is included which is often lost. Â One plastic top hook is broken at the bottom as you can barely see (both hooks would normally hold the plastic near the rear bumper).
Tonka produced a U.S. Army “Military Jeep Universal” version starting in 1963. The “Jeep Commander” introduced the following year had a plastic canopy. The hood number GR2-2431 is said to have been the Tonka company’s phone number in Mound, Minnesota; there was indeed a GReenwood telephone exchange in the area.
For some reason, the hood number was shortened after 1965 to G-2-2431 as seen on a later Jeep Commander (30K JPEG) with white interior and whitewall tires.
