Tonka Pressed Steel No. 82 Horse Trailer and Jeep in Box
This Tonka Horse trailer was adult owned and appears new old stock. Number 82 comes with its box and a pair of horses as well as a trailer and canopy. The truck is a Jeep in light blue.
Tonka Toys likely made this circa 1969 or so, as it shows the latest in Jeep fun and period Tonka technology.
A brief history of Tonka Toys of Mound, Minnesota:
Tonka was begun by Lynn Everett Baker, Avery F. Crounse, and Alvin F. Tesch in 1946, but it didn’t start out as Tonka; instead Mound Metalcraft in 1946. Tesch re-engineered some old toy concepts left by their building’s previous tenants and dubbed the toys “Tanka,” which means “big” in the Dakota Sioux tongue.
