TippCo ca. 1935 Tin Lithographed Windup World War 2 Hitler Mercedes Car *SOLD*

TippCo ca. 1935 Tin Lithographed Windup World War 2 Hitler Mercedes Car

Our Tippco car is quite a scarce find and a historical item.  We will chose to look at this as a historic item.  The German public became impoverished and through marketing, this man rose to power.

Hitler paraded throughout the German countryside in a similar Mercedes Benz offering hope for rebuilding Germany and climbing out of national inflation and severe debt.  This toy was a ca 1935 item for stirring the youth to join the party.

Tires are rubber.  The bodywork is a extremely fine blue/green/black color with nickel plated and metal trim.  Soldiers appear original at front, with a replacement Hitler and side occupant.  These are composition.

Then the toy has a windup and key that insert into the grill.  The toy works with a spring wound motor, then with a differential operating the rear drive tires.

Condition is good original with some toning and minor scratches.  Tires are original as is the trim and toy.

A brief history of Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co., TCO) of Nuremberg, Germany:

The Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co.) was established in 1912 by Mr. Philipp Ullmann. The company established itself as a major producer of lithographed tin toys in Europe. However, in 1933 Mr. Ullmann, being Jewish was forced out of Germany during the rise of Naziism. The company continued to produce toys without its Mr. Ullmann. Due to anti-Nazi sentiment many pre-war German toys were destroyed after the war contributing to their rarity today.
