Schuco Tin Windup Schuco-Examico 4001 German Toy in Box *SOLD*

Schuco Tin Windup Schuco-Examico 4001 German Toy in Box

This is a tin windup/clockwork Schuco-Examico 4001 that was manufactured by Schuco of Nuremberg, Germany.

This is a working example of this toy. The clockwork mechanism works well. The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age they may have petrified, discolored, warped and/or cracked. We did not notice any problems. This has a gear changing device with 4 forward gears, 1 reverse gear, a neutral gear, as well as, a clutch, handbrake, and steering wheel. The wheels turn with the steering wheel. The steering wheel and windshield are replacements. It comes with its original key, instructions and box. The instructions and box are in fair condition.

This piece is in good all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups (with the exception of those mentioned above.) This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 5 ½” L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.

 A brief history of Schuco:

Schuco was started in Nuremberg Germany in 1912 when Heinrich Muller and Heinrich Schreyer formed the toy company Schreyer & Co. In 1921 it became known simply as Schuco. Schuco’s first tin toy appeared in the mid 1930’s when it introduced the Schuco Patent Motor Car.
