S. Bogavatz Wooden “Fusée Spoutnik-Rodia” French Sputnik Rocket Model in Box
We have for you a wood and plastic component “Fusée Spoutnik-Rodia” Sputnik rocket model that was manufactured by S. Bogavatz of Paris, France. In all of our research, we have not been able to track another down like this! We are still doing research on this, but if anyone knows more about this company or this toy please let us know.
**Perspective– This is a museum piece. It was made in a small batch and quite humble. That said, it is the ONLY example we know of and it notes the Russian accomplishment, something the West wanted to ignore. It is the ONLY example of a toy with Lakia we know of in the West, the small dog that orbited Earth. It is a space toy at its most early form. **
This piece is still in its box with instructions, parachute, and a bag of rubber bands (they don’t appear to be dry rotted, but we did not pull on them too much). There is a small plastic dog charm that is hanging from the red capsule that holds the parachute. This never appears to have been used. The box is in very good condition.
This piece is in excellent all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories and wear that are to be expected from age and play. The box is approximately 17 ½” L x 4” W. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
