Marx Plastic Buick LaSabre Dream Car Model Harley Earl GM Concept Car *SOLD*
Marx Plastic Buick LaSabre Dream Car Model Harley Earl GM Concept Car
This is a rare plastic friction Buick LaSabre model Harley Earl GM concept car that was manufactured by Louis Marx & Company of New York City, New York.
The best we can figure is that this was made for GM and later produced into the Marx “Sabre Car” Sports Roadster that had sparkles that came out of the back and a siren. If you look you can see that the car is a blue body like the “Sabre Car” however the man has a red shirt and hair and a red steering wheel. You’ll also notice the gearbox is different on this toy, it is a very basic friction motor.
The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age, they may have petrified, warped, and cracked. We did not notice any warping or cracks upon inspection. The driver’s arms and steering wheel turn with the front tires. The front windshield shows some crazing.
This piece is in very good to great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 10 ½” L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
A brief history of Louis Marx & Company of New York City, New York:
Louis Marx and Company was an American toy manufacturer in business from about 1919 to 1980 founded in New York City by Louis & David Marx. Its products were often imprinted with the slogan, “One of the many Marx toys, have you all of them?” Arguably, Marx was the most well-known toy companies through the late mid-20th century. Best known for their lithographed tin windup toys Marx was also one of the big four among American electric train manufacturers. Interestingly, Marx also successfully revived the Yo-Yo in 1928; it sold well even through the Depression.
