Original Smith-Miller, Inc. “Smitty Toys” Tow Truck Wrecker

We have for you an all original dual rear-wheeled tow truck wrecker manufactured by Smith-Miller “Smitty Toys” of Santa Monica, California. This is believed to be new old stock, found in the original Smith-Miller factory. 

The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age they may have petrified, warped and/or cracked. We did not notice any petrification, warping or cracking on this piece. The wheels roll smoothly as they should. The decals are all present and in excellent condition.  

Our example of this Smith-Miller “Smitty Toys” tow truck wrecker is in excellent, near mint, all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and display. It is approximately 14 ¾” L x 6” W (6 ¾” with crank). Anyone who collects these hard to find original Smith-Miller toys would be lucky to have this in their collection. We encourage you to peruse our photos to further determine quality and condition. 

A brief history of Smith-Miller Toys “Smitty Toys” of Santa Monica, California:

Smith-Miller Toys was founded in 1945 in Santa Monica, California and stayed in business for about 10 years. Smith-Miller, Incorporated producer of arguably the finest toy trucks ever made in the United States, or anywhere else for that matter, has produced more than 75 different toy trucks. When the company ceased production in the mid-1950’s the factory sat defunct a little over 23 years before being purchased by Fred Thompson in 1979.
