We have for you a ca. 1909 “Rip Van Winkle” reading game in box that was manufactured by Milton Bradley of Springfield, Massachusetts.Â
This game consists of forty cards in a box featuring an illustration of Rip Van Winkle. The accompanying booklet contains directions and the text of the story of Van Winkle. Blank marks replace words in certain spots of the script. The reader pauses at each blank and the players read the words on the cards. We counted the cards in this box and came up with 39. The booklet is present and in great condition. The box is in great condition for its age.Â
For its age, this piece is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that are to be expected from age and play.
