Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) Tin Lithographed Batt. Op. #3296 “Hand Car” in Box *SOLD*
Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) Tin Lithographed Batt. Op. #3296 “Hand Car” in Box
We have for you a tin, lithographed, battery-operated #3296 “Hand Car” boy on scooter in box by Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) of Tokyo, Japan.
This little guy scoots around on his scooter in a mystery action while he pulls the yolk back and forth and his bell rings. The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age, they may have petrified, discolored, warped, and/or cracked. We did not notice any issues with the tires and the wheels turn as they should.
The boys head is made of soft vinyl.
This is piece works and the battery compartment is clean and free of corrosion.
The box is in good condition.
This piece is in mint all original condition with no restorations, repairs, or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that is to be expected from age and display. This is approximately 8” L x 10″ H. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
A brief history of Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) of Tokyo, Japan:
Masudaya also known as Masudaya Modern Toys was a tin toy manufacturer that was founded in 1923 in Tokyo, Japan. Masudaya was one of the leading builders of tintype mechanical and battery-operated toys in the post-World War II era. Unlike many of their competitors, Masudaya managed to survive to this day, due in part to their involvement in the airsoft gun craze of the 1980s. They are mostly known for basically creating “skirmishable” airsoft guns that could be used for combat simulations rather than target shooting. Masudaya normally identifies their toys using the M-T, or Modern Toys logo.
