Marx ca. 1960s Bonanza Cowboy Playset with Horse, Accessories & 4-in-1 Wagon *SOLD*

Marx ca. 1960s Bonanza Cowboy Playset with Horse, Accessories & 4-in-1 Wagon

Cowboy toy circa 1966

Our research finds that this is quite a rare set with all these parts and this variation.  We say this because the plastic on these sets self destruct.  There wasn’t any stabilizer in them and they tend to crumble.  The vinyl tends to eat into the plastic parts themselves.  We have a Native American boy and dad.

So….please keep this perspective. We actually have an unused and formerly boxed Bonanza toy set to offer.  But, as said before, the figures self-destructed decades ago.  Arms, legs, heads, and forelimbs are detached. Deep cracks are throughout the figure bodies. We have gathered little John, the Native American, and the father into zip lock bags for a restoration artist.  They had springs inside them that were very taught, and the plastic legs and arms pulled apart and self-destructed.

We have the instructions.  We have the additional up-sell catalogs too.  We peeled off some old tape and plastic wrap and rubber bands (not included).

There are three horses, reins, Native American gear, cowboy guns, cowboy gear, canteens, 4-in-1 wagon parts, barrels, watering troughs, etc., etc.  It is one heck-of-a-set for the right buyer.  We had to re-glue on the double-tree horse holder.  We had to re-glue on the spring for the wagon buckboard.  We had to clean the wagon tent fabric.  One arrow had to be glued back.  This could have been thrown out to the non-collector.

However, we haven’t seen another set pictured or another complete (or even close to complete) set sold before.  They weren’t made like steel toys, these were early and primitive plastic toys without modern know-how.

Hopefully, the set will find the right home and preservationist.  More pictures are available upon request.
