Marusan SAN Battery Operated Japanese Tin Lithographed “River Boat” Queen Mary Ship with Box *SOLD*
Marusan SAN Battery Operated Japanese Tin Lithographed “River Boat” Queen Mary Ship with Box
This piece is a vintage battery operated tin lithographed “River Boat” Queen Mary that was manufactured by Marusan Co. Ltd. (SAN) of Japan.
This battery operated Queen Mary river boat touts that it puffs out real smoke on its box. When the batteries are installed and the small on off knob is turned the prop turns and it is supposed to puff out real smoke. We tested this and the prop turns strongly, but the on/off knob is a bit touchy. We did not test the smoking aspect of this toy, but the asbestos part that you add a couple drops of machine oil to is still present. On the bottom of the boat there is some petrified tape glue that we did not try to remove. The battery compartment is clean and corrosion free. The box is in good but fragile shape, there is some red ink names written in places on the box.
This Marusan SAN Queen Mary River Boat is in excellent all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and display. It is approximately 13 ¾” L (with rudder). We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
