Marklin/Bing Style Set of 2 German Tin Water Fountain Pumps *SOLD*

Marklin/Bing Style Set of 2 German Tin Water Fountain Pumps

This is a set of tin water fountain pumps possibly manufactured by Marklin/Maerklin/Gebrüder Maerklin of Goppingen, Germany or Gebrüder Bing of Nuremberg, Germany & New York City, New York.

We were unable to fully ascertain which companies made these two really special “fountains”, but we were able to narrow it down based on catalog pictures with very similar styles. We see similar styles in the 1978 Baecker, Haas, Jeanmaire catalog Technical Toys in the Course of Time, Volume 4: Marklin, New Ways to Success, up to 1912- on page 60 and in Verlag Eisenbahn’s 1986 catalog, Bing: Metall Spielwaren on page 95. If you have any information on these fountains, we invite you to share the knowledge with us.

We did not test these two fountains, but we assume the pumps have long since dried out and are unable to pump water. The handles do move up and down. The red one comes with its original bucket and is not marked in any way. The fountain with the ducks on a blue background has no bucket and is marked with what appears to be “759/00” and “7.70”

Our examples of these fountains are in great all original condition with no breaks no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. These pieces show the usual patina, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. The red fountain is approximately 4” W x 9 ½” H and the ducks on blue background fountain is 5” W x 10” H. This would be a great and impressive addition to any collection. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
