Lionel-Craft Chris Craft Tin Windup Motorized Racing Boat *SOLD*

Lionel Chris Craft Tin Windup Motorized Racing Boat

We are offering a Lionel Motorized boat for sale in original condition that was manufactured by Lionel Corporation of New York City, New York.  Please note the stand in the photos is not included.

The color is a unique cream and red hull and the design appears to be based off of a Chris-Craft twin cockpit speedboat.

Lionel offered these boats in the 1930s for a whopping $3.50 which represented a monstrous sum for Great Depression-era budgets.  Most kids were spending a few cents on lead soldiers at Five and Dime stores.

Appointments are tin, brass, and steel with a very large clockwork motor.  We note that the very fragile and original brass window is still present; these are often broken.

The motor runs very well and has a key that is likely original.

We were able to find some recast composite drivers (George and Martha) to complete the look.

The paintwork is grubby from a kid’s hands. There is minor chipping at the transom and then flakes off the propeller prop.

This piece is in very good all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. It is approximately 18”. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
