Our primitive early American electric toys are perfect for a steam engine collector that wants to power accessories with electricity.  The motor is powered off of  4 Volts, a series of three 1.5V batters worked for us, and then the reducer “gears” up or down the output to the proper speed.

Each of these were from the early 1900s and deserve to be mounted on a wooden plinth.  Then the accessory can be mounted too.  Add in a voltage source and some string or spring belts & enjoy the power.
