Gescha Toys ca. 1928 Tin Lithographed Windup Airplane and Hangar German Toy *SOLD*

Gescha Toys ca. 1928 Tin Lithographed Windup Airplane and Hangar German Toy

We have for you a tin, lithographed, windup airplane and hangar manufactured by Gescha Toys of Nuremberg, Germany.

When the airplane is clipped in to the hangar port, wound with its dedicated key and the lever is pushed the airplane comes out of the hangar and flies around the hangar. The plane has been resoldered to the wire arm that holds it. The airplane may also not be original to this set (but it works), we were only able to find the black and white catalog photo that shows a Spirit of St. Louis type plane. We were also not able to find another like this to compare it to.

This piece is in very good condition. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 7 ½” L x 5″ W. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.

A brief history of Gescha Toys of Nuremberg, Germany:

Gescha has been around since the 1920’s (1923) and produced Schuco like mechanical wonders.

During the 1970s, the name Conrad began to be used more and Gescha used less. By 1980, toys bearing the name Gescha were rare. Around this time the name Conrad began to be used exclusively; the company’s website does not even mention the name of Gescha.

Conrad/Gescha compete globally for contracts to make precision models for truck, crane, and other heavy equipment manufacturers (see Conrad website listed below). It is worth noting, however, that the Conrad Models company was started under the name Gescha.
