German Penny Toys and Nazi Transport with Dornier D X Plane Toy *SOLD*
German Penny Toys and Nazi transport with Dornier D X Plane toy
Our collection of wood toys comes via Florida and are toy oddities. Wood toys tend to be a product of the Black Forrest region and don’t tend to survive. Then political toys post-war often get distroyed; this set survived.
The transport is a labeled war toy championing “All for Germany” on the troop transport. Brown shirts were used to purge all opposing, and even opposed ideas of Hitler. (Later gutted and reused by Hitler). This is all a bad piece of history, but history nonetheless.
So… back to the toys. Our Dornier plane is a prized aircraft due to all the propellers ( Twelve!!) and its SpruceGoose like largeness. The troop transport is a masterful toy when you consider how many hand carved soldiers were added to the back. The additional silver aircraft may be a Fokker, and is classically German in design.
Finally, the wood hauler truck has a telescoping log trailer. We even get a German passenger train with pushing propeller (quickly an abandoned design).
The Schienenzeppelin or rail zeppelin was an experimental railcar which resembled a Zeppelin airship in appearance. It was designed and developed by the German aircraft engineer Franz Kruckenberg in 1929. Propulsion was by means of a pusher propeller located at the rear: it accelerated the railcar to 230.2 km/h (143 mph) setting the land speed record for a petrol powered rail vehicle. Only a single example was ever built, which due to safety concerns remained out of service and was finally dismantled in 1939 [Wikipedia].
Condition is very good and original.
