Fisher-Price RARE ca. 1941 Wooden #140 “Coaster Boy” Boy with Cart *SOLD*
Fisher-Price RARE ca. 1941 Wooden #140 “Coaster Boy” Boy with Cart Pull Toy
This ca. 1941 RARE wooden #140 “Coaster Boy” boy with cart pull-toy was manufactured by Fisher-Price Inc. of East Aurora, New York.  Â
We have been enjoying our extremely rare Boy with Cart toy from Fisher-Price. Â This Model #140 was made for only one year, 1941, and won acclaim that year for Toy of the Year!
The action is unique with a boy “pushing” the cart and then on and off gong bell ringing.   It is actually a wooden pull toy.  The paper lithography on the toy is quite bright.
The condition appears barely used and the toy is original. Â Even the pull string and wooden end are intact. Â There is little to no wear on the wheels.
We reached out to Fisher Price historian Bruce Fox for some perspective. Â He felt a higher asking price could even be warranted due to condition and rarity.
“The 1941 regular line was led by perhaps the most distinctive and unusual of all Fisher-Price Pull toys.  #140 The Coaster Boy.  The toy is a multiple-jointed handsome young boy who, when pulled, pushes his coaster wagon while his rear legs roll, hops on the wagon to coast [with kid help]” We noticed the pin that makes him do this action is not there, so we made a temporary one (not pictured).
This is in great all original condition with no breaks or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 14 ½” L altogether. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition. Â
