Ernst Plank Gas Engine- Rare!  SOLD

We’ve not seen another one of these before and probably won’t see another– here is a very early gas engine made by Ernst Plank.

The toy (honestly model) appears to function but was never fired.  The piston turns and the mechanism with chain rotates properly.  The EP or Ernst Plank symbol and plaque are beautiful and intact on the front of the toy.

Steam engine collectors will likely see this as a missing link to their toys and evolution.  Gas was likely much too volatile to remain a toy, and this form of engine was produced in very very limited quantities.  We’ve  not seen another before.  There was an hot air engine Plank made with a similar V pulley, and it was used to run belt driven fans.
