Buddy L trains had number of add-on car and caboose options.  Of them, the Ballast Car is arguable the most intricate and has the most moving parts.  For us, it is the best of the best.

Our example is in all original condition with opening doors, turning door locks, and even with the difficult to find divider.  Many of these cars didn’t have this divider (likely a deletion to save cost).

As seen in the photos, there is some corrosion on the trucks and wheels; light, and appropriate for an all original car.  All stickers are present and in excellent condition.  -Light chipping on a few, but near mint.  The ballast car’s bottom and walls are at about 95%++ paint with very light chipping.  Light corrosion near the seams as expected for these authentic and unrestored toys (the paint thinned here).  The bottom Buddy L Sticker is about as clean as we’ve seen and to us at about 95%+ condition.  Keep in mind that this outdoor railroad toy is about 90 years old.

The entire ballast car is a joy and absolute treasure.  It was at the top of a Florida toy dealer’s collection and came to us via estate.
