Buddy L Express Truck for Sale *SOLD*

Buddy L Railway Express Truck for Sale circa 1926-1929.

Our all original Buddy L Express Truck is the big bad boy’s toy many have dreamed of.  It is in original condition, and very good to excellent.  We grade it excellent, but with light roof scratches, light chipping, and light corrosion in the seams and spots that indicate its originality.  At about 100 years, stress spots in steel bends tend to discolor.

Noteworthy is that pickup trucks today were formerly referred to as Express or Express Body trucks.  So this Railway Express truck was a pickup truck with screened cover used for Railways.

The Buddy L Express truck  was larger than the 201 series original trucks.  It also had a ton of extra play value with a removable postal/express mail box with steel mesh.  Then in typical Buddy L fashion, the gauge of steel and wire mesh is head and shoulders above other similar toys of the time.  They just didn’t skimp.

The truck is of the caliber to be in our signature collection.  We decided to sell it to a lucky collector.

The New Book of Buddy “L” Toys, Volume I by Albert Mccullough notes our version as “25 inches, 12 inch high; black front, hood, fenders, short running boards, steering wheel, seat, low sides body, and latching drop-down endgate; dark green van body with coarse wire mesh sides, three panels on each side, and hinged solid double rear doors with hasp”  We have included two factory photos from the afore mentioned book and would like to thank Greenberg Publications; wish this book was still printed!
