Flying Yankee Mahogany Wood Boat Toy- Seaworthy in Box *SOLD*
Flying Yankee Mahogany Wood Boat Toy Seaworthy in Box
What a brick of wood! While German tin toys are noted for their economy of materials, this Seaworthy mahogany boat, the “Flying Yankee” is solid. The New York maker simply took a great form, hollowed out space for an engine (heavy too) and then let it rip! They obviously had a great shipping rate .
This Flying Yankee is new old stock and comes with a box. The end flap has Number 6 as the model number; the opposite side has only 2 of the 4 flaps still. There is some chipping on the handle, chipping on the rudder, minor box rub marks on the side, but otherwise a excellent condition survivor. There wasn’t primer used on these, so this is about as good as condition gets for a 90 or so year old toy.
The Seaworthy mahogany boat box is marked with NY and also comes with a price tag (difficult to read), and then comes with a kid’s mom’s notation– “Fred’s toy boat”. -Cool!
