Our prewar International dump truck is a very difficult toy to find (circa about 1941.  It is barely pre-world war 2 and production was relatively short.  Production didn’t span the mid 40’s and production never resumed.

As a pre-war it toy is heavily used and represented the last of the “new toys”.  Cast toys like this were stopped, and the metals went into building war implements.  So this also survived many-a-recycling drives.  Recycling claimed many production toys around this time.

So readers will have to excuse the overpaint, worn out wheels, crusty exterior, and overpainted bed.  It was loved, repainted, then loved some more.

Also note the very large 11″ size.  It is a massive toy and has an incredibly bent spring dump mechanism.  The bed tilts with the help of the side lever.  Then the bed retracts with a push, because the spring wants to go back to straight.
