Tonka Pressed Steel Service Truck Vintage Toy *SOLD*
Tonka Pressed Steel Service Truck Vintage Toy
This Tonka truck design is a great 60s toy with wear and tear. It is a shimmering blue with ladder and original parts.
Condition is good to even poor with corrosion throughout as shown. Still, the design is popular, and it will be a great display toy or restoration candidate.
Behind the cab is the service item enclosed bed. The ladder tucks away beneath the roof in its own holder.
A brief history of Tonka Toys of Mound, Minnesota:
Tonka was begun by Lynn Everett Baker, Avery F. Crounse, and Alvin F. Tesch in 1946, but it didn’t start out as Tonka; instead Mound Metalcraft in 1946. Tesch re-engineered some old toy concepts left by their building’s previous tenants and dubbed the toys “Tanka,” which means “big” in the Dakota Sioux tongue.
