UFO DaiApollon Football Robot Tin Windup *SOLD*

UFO DaiApollon Football Robot Tin Windup For Sale

We have a UFO riding football playing windup robot for you, of course!   Think of this toy as a great 1976 hero robot that plays football.  Then in the animation, he protects, transforms, and goes into space.

Back on Earth, our UFO toy has an all tin body and absolutely beautiful vinyl football mask and pads.   The color and shelf presence is awesome, but a bit foreign to American collectors.  But if you get into windup toys, this toy works well and it is a pleaser.  The legs walk and the arms move up and down as the built in key rotates.   It is also artwork in primary colors.

UFO DaiApollon is near mint in a near mint box.  The toy borders on dead stock with the packing insert included. The toy is all original.

Note that our robot toy was imported by the famous Marukai Import co in California from Japan.  The box has a blue label on bottom along with an export/import sticker.

UFO DaiApollon animation summary

-Courtesy of Wikipedia “The series is about a 16-year-old boy Takeshi who recently formed an American football team at the Blue Sky orphanage. One day the game is interrupted by a light in the sky. Takeshi discovers he is the son of the king of the planet Apolon, spirited away to Earth by his father’s retainer Labi to avoid death at the hands of General Dazaan. He turns out to have special energy abilities which can control UFO saucers from a base under the ocean floor. His friends Miki, Matsuo and Goro also become pilots. They magically change into their uniforms every time they yell U! F! O!. There are three robots: Header (Head); Trangur (Trunk) and Legger (Leg). They combine into a larger and powerful robot called Daiapolon. Through a solar-powered process known as “body fusion”, activated by the “Key Energy” device placed inside the boy’s chest, Takeshi can “grow” in mass and become a giant humanoid, thus “wearing” the Daiapolon as a kind of cybernetical armour.”

Bullmark Toy History

Bullmark (ブルマァク) is a Japanese toy company that is most famous for selling PVC kaiju character toys in the 1960s and 1970s. They are also known for their die cast Godzilla related toys as well as tin windup toys. Founded in 1969 after the bankruptcy of pioneering toy manufacturer Marusan, the company was also known simply as Bull by many people as their logo of a bull was stamped on the bottoms of the feet of many of its toys. The company appears to have closed in 1977.
