Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) Tin Lithographed Battery-Operated “Atom” Motorcycle “Expert Motorcyclist” *SOLD*
Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) Tin Lithographed Battery-Operated “Atom” Motorcycle “Expert Motorcyclist”
We have for you a tin, lithographed, battery-operated “Atom” motorcycle “Expert Motorcyclist” that was manufactured by Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) of Tokyo, Japan.
This toy is in working condition, when you slide the switch on the back over the driver kicks his leg over the motorcycle, then kicks his leg back over, then the bike moves forward and repeats these actions. The bike makes a clicking sound to mimic motorcycle engine sounds. The headlight works and has a bulb in it. The front tire is rubber and the two smaller tires appear to be plastic of some sort. The black rubber tire is still intact in great condition, but as per usual with toys of this age, they may have petrified, discolored, warped, and/or cracked. We did not notice any issues with any of the tires, hubs, or axles. The battery compartment is corrosion and rust-free.
This piece is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that are to be expected from age and display. This is approximately 11 ½” L x 3 ½” W x 8 ½” H. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
A brief history of Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) of Tokyo, Japan:
Masudaya also known as Masudaya Modern Toys was a tin toy manufacturer that was founded in 1923 in Tokyo, Japan. Masudaya was one of the leading builders of tintype mechanical and battery-operated toys in the post-World War II era. Unlike many of their competitors, Masudaya managed to survive to this day, due in part to their involvement in the airsoft gun craze of the 1980s. They are mostly known for basically creating the “skirmishable” airsoft guns that could be used for combat simulations rather than target shooting. Masudaya normally identifies their toys using the M-T, or Modern Toys logo.
