Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co., TCO) Tin Lithographed Friction Battery Operated Light Police Motorcycle German Toy
This tin, lithographed, friction police motorcycle with battery operated light was manufactured Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co., TCO) of Nuremberg, Germany.
When the friction is revved up this police motorcycle moves forward. Our examples friction works. We did not have the proper battery to test the battery-operated light, so we were unable to verify that it works. The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age they may have petrified, warped and/or cracked. We did not notice any problem with the tires.
Our example of this Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co., TCO) police motorcycle is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece may show the usual fading, patina, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. It is approximately 11” L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
A brief history of Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co., TCO) of Nuremberg, Germany:
The Tippco Toys Company (Tipp & Co.) was established in 1912 by Mr. Philipp Ullmann. The company established itself as a major producer of lithographed tin toys in Europe. However, in 1933 Mr. Ullmann, being Jewish was forced out of Germany during the rise of Naziism. The company continued to produce toys without its Mr. Ullmann. Due to anti-Nazi sentiment many pre-war German toys were destroyed after the war contributing to their rarity today.
