Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) Friction Tin Lithographed “Tank-X” Military Vehicle Japanese Toy with Box *SOLD*
Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) Friction Tin Lithographed “Tank-X” Military Vehicle Japanese Toy with Box
This piece is an all original friction, tin, lithograph “Tank-X” manufactured by Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) of Tokyo, Japan.
This toy is in working condition, when revved up the friction mechanism works but it may not grip on some surfaces. The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age they may have petrified, warped and/or cracked. We did notice any problem with the tires. The box is in great condition with some damage to the left bottom box edge.
Our example of this Masudaya Modern Toys “Tank-X” is in excellent original condition with no restorations, repairs, breaks or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. It is approximately 6” L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
A brief history of Masudaya Modern Toys (MT) of Tokyo, Japan:
Masudaya also known as Masudaya Modern Toys was a tin toy manufacturer that was founded in 1923 in Tokyo, Japan. Masudaya was one of the leading builders of tin type mechanical and battery-operated toys in the post-World War II era. Unlike many of their competitors Masudaya managed to survive to this day, due in part to their involvement in the airsoft gun craze of the 1980’s. They are mostly known for basically creating the “skirmishable” airsoft guns that could be used for combat simulations rather than target shooting. Masudaya normally identifies their toys using the M-T, or Modern Toys logo.
