Leonhard Müller German Pre-War Tin Lithographed Hand Crank Notre Dame Cathedral Organ Music Box

This piece is a vintage pre-war tin, lithographed, hand crank Notre Dame Catherdral musical organ box was manufactured by Leonhard Müller of Nuremberg, Germany.

This Leonhard Müller Notre Dame hand crank music box has lithographs are exquisitely detailed. While it is not marked with a manufacturer’s mark or logo we compared it to others of its time and figure it to be a Leonhard Müller based finding it in attributed in a catalog called, Lexikon der Deutschen Blechspielzeug-Industrie by Jurgen & Marianne Cieslik on pg. 305. It is marked “D.R.G.M.” & “Made in Germany” which puts this between 1891 to the beginning of WWII. When the music box’s hand crank is turned the cathedral plays a melodious organ type music. We feel that the hand crank to this German music box has been replaced. The bell towers feel a bit loose, but they are securely attached. We haven’t seen many of these, but they are a great testament to German toy makers ability to surprise us.

This Müller tin, lithographed Notre Dame organ music box is in excellent all original condition with no breaks, repairs, or touch ups. There is no rust and the bottom is very clean. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and display. It is approximately 6 ¼” L x 4” W x 6 ½” H. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
