Arcade Cast Iron “T Bar Mack” Mack Dump Truck *SOLD*

Arcade Cast Iron “T Bar Mack” Mack Dump Truck

We have for you this cast iron “T Bar Mack” Mack dump truck that was manufactured by the Arcade Manufacturing Company of Freeport, Illinois.

Our beautiful 13″ long Arcade Mack Truck was a pleasure to bring back to its former glory. These are sometimes called “T Bar” Macks because of the way the pulleys and T bar shaft raise to tip the bed.

The casting itself appears free of cracks and is extremely heavy. The bed is also a heavy casting with its original sheet metal bed and original, operating tailgate. We had to put back the shaft for the bed and for tipping.

The toy truck was overpainted and needed help. As it sits, it is an extremely heavy toy with most of its original grey paint and then newer gold accents added back.

We took off layers of overpainted grey and were able to get down the original paint.  Tires were replaced earlier with rubber, but in an off color. We have aged the rubber back to look as it should, a creamy off-white color.

The bed tips properly, but the ram is no longer spring powered. The pulleys and bar are a replacement as is the driver, put back by the former owner.

This piece shows the usual patina, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 13″ L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.

A brief history of Arcade Manufacturing Company of Freeport, Illinois:

The Arcade Manufacturing Company of Freeport, Illinois was originally founded as Novelty Iron Works by Edward H. and Charles Morgan in 1868, and conducted business in two small buildings with a staff of ten people.

The company operated between the years 1868 to 1946. They began making toys and coffee mills and then moved to a new site in 1893 (after fires, financial issues, and changing their name from Novelty Iron Works).

Arcade toy catalogs appear to start at 1902 and as late as 1939. Arcade`s toy line included over 300 toy items. Yellow Cab was their first successful toy followed by Andy Gump in 348 and Chester Gump in His Pony Cart. Arcade also made toy banks, doll house furniture, and cast-iron penny toys.
