CKO German Tin Limousine Penny Toy *SOLD*
CKO German Tin Limousine Penny Toy For Sale
This true penny toy from about the 1920’s has no frills.  It is a strong statement to the post World War 1 recovery life in Germany.  The toy  industry catered to people’s budgets and it was low, hence the nick-name of penny toys.
CKO or Kellerman toys like this used absolutely dazzling colors and gloss to hide the fact that they were just a few pieces of tin. Â Wheels were stamped en mass and bodies were made by the hundreds (per day). Â They were machine bent toys and often required just a touch of labour for the wheels.
In the end, it is a beautiful toy but as simple as it gets. Â Our original CKO limousine has no wind up, no flywheel, no driver; it is a bare bones fun thing. Â This toy came from a Kansas area estate and appears to be near new old stock. Â There is some oxidation on the raw metal beneath the car as expected (unfinished to save cost). Â Wheels are very clean and roll.
