Tonka Military Jeep GR-2 2431 Vintage Pressed Steel *SOLD*
Tonka Military Jeep GR-2 2431 vintage pressed steel for sale
This military jeep by Tonka was only offered for a limited number of years around the late 60’s (post Korean war timeline).
Our very good condition original Military Jeep comes from dry Florida storage and its original owner. There are some dings on the front bumper, a missing steering wheel, a missing spare tire, but strong condition paint and stickers. The hardtop/canvas top is included which is often lost. One plastic top hook is broken at the bottom as you can barely see (both hooks would normally hold the plastic near the rear bumper).
Tonka produced a U.S. Army “Military Jeep Universal” version starting in 1963. The “Jeep Commander” introduced the following year had a plastic canopy. The hood number GR2-2431 is said to have been the Tonka company’s phone number in Mound, Minnesota; there was indeed a GReenwood telephone exchange in the area.
For some reason, the hood number was shortened after 1965 to G-2-2431 as seen on a later Jeep Commander (30K JPEG) with white interior and whitewall tires.
