Kenton Early Racer Cast Iron *SOLD*

Large Kenton Cast Iron Racer

Date: Early 1910s
Material: Cast Iron
Company: Kenton
Size: Over 7” Long approximately
Country of Origin: United States
Condition:  Used
Notes:  Beautiful yellow Kenton early car, cataloged in 1911.  It is unusual in that that cockpit has a larger opening and driver is better proportioned than most models found.  The toy’s condition is impeccable, so we think this may be a repaint.  The driver has a small amount of corrosion, every so slight amount, as expected with age.  The axels are slightly corroded and in a natural state as expected.  The yellow paint is quite beautiful, yet still has very small traces of the usual iron bumps and small amounts of corrosion.  There are just a few minor chips as shown, and they display the dark black metal from age as expected.  Seams show very small amounts of corrosion as expected, leading us to believe this top notch toy was simply left in storage for ages. Beautiful Kenton, likely #509 from the 1912 Jones and Bixler/Kenton toy catalogs.  Jones & Biller produced toys for/with Kenton at this time.
